Sleep Over at Aunt Debbie's

Ethan and Ty were over at the house for a sleep over the other night. We had a ton of fun. This is video of Ethan, Ty, Zack, Jason and I all rocking out to John Francis Bongiovi. Watch Ethan jam on the guitar, does it remind you of Lance's air guitar?

In the morning we got to view the beautiful Salt Lake valley from the top of the tallest building. With a fresh layer of snow on the mountains it was a spectacular site. Although Ty was a little reluctant at first I reminded her that she was a born rock climber so heights were nothing to be afraid of.

With all the new snow we are hoping the hit the slopes this New Years. Whatever you end up doing this holdiay we hope you have a great time and would love to see your pictures posted on the blog!

Rock Band Christmas

We had a great Christmas with Zack and Em. The family present this year was the video game "Rock Band"....and boy did we ROCK! We named the band "Yeeeaaahh!!" and we all took turns playing the drums, guitar and singing. Em scored the highest on vocals... which was asurprise because we all know how well I sing (not). Zack totally rocked the house with his awsome guitar solos. And although Jason can't dance he sure can play the drums....It was an awesome Christmas. I hope you all had a great one too.

Heather Help!

How's my Spanish? I did my best to do a count down for mom and dad's trip (the counter on the poll). I only had to look up two words. Now, I just need Heather to school me on proper Espanol.

Mom, is this correct? You guys ship out on Jan 30th?

I know it's almost Thanksgiving but after sweet little Sophi ate the phone jack I couldn't make posts.
Our 150 pound cannibal pumpkin was a big hit with the trick-r-treaters. (that's a regular size pumpkin in its mouth...cool huh?!)
Although we had fun with the gaint pumpkin... disposing of it was not so fun. Imagine what happens to your cute little carved pumpkins after sitting on your doorstep for a week. Now imagine a 150 pounds of molding pumpkin carcase....YUCK!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Da Plane!! Da Plane!!!

October 27th, the big day. Both wings are finally on the plane, and it's the day for the startup. What an exciting time it was. The weather was perfect and nearly all the family showed up for the big event. A barbeque was planned and chairs were set up around the tarmac to witness the grand event. The kids were having a great time enjoying the sun, and playing with the skateboard. But, when the big moment arrived everyone positioned themselves to watch. Dean stood on the sidelines with the fire extinquisher, but never had a chance to use it. It took a couple of tries to get the propeller to start spinning, but once they figured out the problem, it fired right up. The Dad, couldn't have been more excited to finally see his dream come true. Now he can hardly wait until it is airborn. Dad was really happy to have so much of the family there to show support and encouragement, it meant so much to him. Doug was pretty sore from all the work of putting the wing on but thrilled to have the project so far along. Everyone one was thrilled and tears were seen from many of the family members. The plane took a little taxi down the tarmac, first by Dad and then by Doug with Mom as co-pilot. There is still lots to do, but it is looking really great. Maybe we ought to name the plane. Any ideas???

Extreme Porch Makeover

Here are a couple of pretty impressive photos of the porch and the able bodies who did so much work. For two days, we worked from sun up until sundown to complete this masterpiece of workmanship. When things aren't square you have to be extremely creative on doing this type of project. Thank goodness we has such a wonderful project manager (the dad), to guide us in our efforts to make this all come together. The first day the weather was totally uncooperative, so we only had two days to complete the extreme makeover. The demolition had been done before we arrived so with lots of help from Deb, Zacky, Jason, me and dad, it all worked out a lot better than we ever anticipated. Deb still has lots to do before winter sets in to the outside, and the inside can be done at her own pace. All in all, we are all very excited with the outcome. So were the six bees I killed in a matter of 5 minutes (they must've been searching for a place to hide out for the winter, no such luck for them).

Christmas in October

It's amazing, that it can go from 70 degree's one week to snowing the next. Kenedi and her friend Ali, along with Angie and I built this on Saturday during the first big snow storm of the year, to bad it will be gone by the first of the week.

MiKayla’s Baptism

The Baptism Rainbow
by Lynne M. Durkee / ga05172007

The rainbow shows a promise that God has made to me.
If I choose to obey then I can always see
That rainbows are not made just for God alone;
Rainbows help me remember promises of my own.

We would like to invite everyone to come to MiKayla’s Baptism. It will be Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Shelley South Stake Center at 675 S. Milton. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. They ask that all family meet in the chapel 10 minutes before baptism begins. We would like all uncles and grandfathers to stand in on the confirmation. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.

"Baptism into this Church is a serious thing. It represents a covenant made with our Heavenly Father. It is much more than a right of passage. It is a gateway to a new manner of living, and a new road on which to walk that leads to immortality and eternal life. It was never intended as a dead end. It was intended to open a glorious and wonderful way of life to all who would walk in obedience to the commandments of God." - President Gordon B. Hinckley

Ashby California Adventure!!

So we're baaacccckkk!! We had an awesome time and thought we'd share some moments with ya'll! Tylar cried when we left Disneyland on Friday night because she didn't want to go! I don't blame her, it is "the happiest place on earth" ya know!! It was fun to remember the times we went there when we were younger

The first picture we were waiting for the "Parade of Dreams" to start and it was an amazing parade! It had gotten kind of chilly so we were snuggling! I had to get a picture because Ethan thinks he's getting to big to snuggle so I had to get a picture so I had proof that it actually happened!!

The next picture is from California Adventrue park! Everything was being decorated for Halloween while we were there and as with most things at Disneyland it was over the top! We thought mom would appreciate the giant candycorn! (they're not real mom!)

We were pretty excited to get our picture with Mickey. We actually had to go to his house to have it taken!

Our last picture is from the Wild Animal Park. Can you tell which one is Lance!!

The Plane Will Only Turn Left

Dad and I are having trouble voting. I think it will be completed next year (I have my fingers crossed for that), but Dad says never. Maybe that should be the vote. Who is right Mom, or Dad.
The other wing is still a work in progress, and if both wings are on, maybe it would go straight and also right and left.
There is still a lot to be done. But, every little bit moves it closer to being airborn. Any time anyone is bored and needs something to do, Dad is always willing to go to the hangar and spend a few quality hours tinkering.

Jellystone 2007

Hey Boo Boo?...where d'ya put the pic a nic basket? Could we have asked for better conditions for this hike? No bugs! No rain! No rangers at the hot springs! Yahoo! The kids did great; they really learned to push past some challenging moments. Let's hear it for Mariah, I mean the girl hurled her guts out and still hiked out 10 miles carrying her own pack. And I think Tylar shocked us all, that girls a trooper
The time of year was ideal. The river was lower and easier for the kids to cross. It also helped to regulate the temp of the pools (not too many cold swirls). You could sit and soak without getting eaten by deer flies and mosquitoes. Not to mention there was not a single other group to fight with over the best pools.
I can't wait for next year! I bet Denise already has our campsites reserved :)

Torrey 2007

This year's trip to Torrey was awesome! Everyone (with the exception of Dean and Heather) was able to be there and support Granny and Gramps. It felt pretty good to see Grandma win the prize for having the most family members in attendance. The highlight of the trip was of course the fantastic four wheeling trails and beautiful landscape. Other than the big $$ spent on gas, the kids getting electrocuted in the swimming pool and Debbie wrecking her brand new dirt bike, I would say it was the prefect family reunion.
I love this pic of Dono man looking cool... Do you think he is ready to get riding or just fall asleep?
